The Best American Singer of All Time

by Haze Lam (6D) and Hailey Huang (6D)

Taylor Alison Swift was born on December 13th, 1989, at Reading Hospital in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Taylor’s dad, Scott Swift, is a former stockbroker for Merrill Lynch, while her mother, Andrea Gardiner Swift, is a former homemaker who used to be a marketing professional. Taylor grew up on a Christmas tree farm owned by her family. She also has a younger brother, Austin, who was an actor.

When Taylor was nine, she took an interest in music and singing. She often performed in the primary school she was attending. She also traveled to New York once a week to attend vocal and acting lessons and was later inspired to write country music after listening to famous country singer, Shania Twain’s. She said her songs made her ”want to just run around the block four times and daydream about everything.” Taylor eventually tried to send one of her songs to a record company but was rejected. “Everyone wants to do what I want to do, so I have to figure out how to be different,” she said afterwards.

Taylor debuted her first album in 2006 at the age of 17. The debut album was called, “Taylor Swift". She has sold almost 6 million copies of the album in the US, making it a huge success! Everyone who heard the album liked it a lot so Taylor kept on writing, singing songs and making new albums like:

”Fearless”, “Red”, “Lover”, ”Midnights”, “Folklore” and a lot others. Taylor was even once the youngest singer to receive the emmy award in 2010!

Do you like pop? If you do, then Taylor Swift might be a great choice for you! She is, after all, the best American singer of all time.
