Chinese New Year is Coming!

by Alvis Shek (4H)

Chinese New Year is a festival of China. It celebrates the new year of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. We celebrate it by giving red packets. People have lion dances to wish for good luck. People eat different snacks such as rice cakes, melon seeds and pistachios at Chinese New Year. People celebrate by decorating doors and windows with red paper-cuttings and couplets.

New Year's Day is regarded as an occasion for Chinese families to gather for the annual reunion dinner. I think it is very good because maybe some families cannot always be together. During the Chinese New Year holiday, they can spend more time together. I am really lucky one because I can always have what I want and I can stay with my family all day long. Some children have not much money and they can only see and hug their parents at the festival.

I wish you all enjoy the festival!
