Chasing the 100-Meter Dash Finish Line
Article by Lum Yui Hei, Hayden, P4F
Have you ever felt super excited when you’re running towards the finish line? That’s exactly how I feel every time I race in the 100-meter dash!
I really love the 100-meter dash. It makes me so happy, and I feel so strong when I run fast! My classmates say they are inspired by me, and those who like running look up to me. We always run on the school sports field during PE and on sports days.
I think running is really important. It’s not just fun; it makes me feel excited! I started loving it when I saw the older kids zooming by, and I wanted to be just like them.
Now, let’s talk about training. The 100-meter dash can be tricky sometimes. Sometimes, I don’t start off well. If I don’t push off the starting block properly, it makes me slow at the beginning. Another problem is that I can lose my balance and fall while running, which is a big mistake and costs me precious time. Plus, it can be hard to breathe when I’m running really fast. If I get too nervous before the race, I might not do my best, either.
I’ve faced all these problems, but I’ve learned that it’s not just about being the fastest runner. It’s about being brave enough to start and never giving up. That’s why I join the athletic team every Thursday after school to practice hard. I hope to run even faster in the future! I believe that as long as I keep trying and don’t stop, I’ll reach my goal. I’ll keep running and enjoying this amazing sport. I know I can do it!
Let me share a special story! Once, during a race, I stepped on a tiny stone at the start. I almost fell, but I managed to keep my balance and keep running. Even though I had a rough start, I still finished strong! This taught me that when unexpected things happen, we should be brave and think quickly. So, if you’ve never liked running before, why not give it a try? You might surprise yourself!
