Hiking Trails in HK

Do you want to be healthy? Of course you do! Then you must try hiking in Hong Kong. I am going to tell you three easy trails that have beautiful scenery! Here are some easy hiking trails that I recommend:
1. Cape D’Aguilar
Cape D’Aguilar is located near Shek O. Easy access by bus, you can take the MTR Island Line to Shau Kei Wan, exit A3. There is a bus stop across the street. Look for bus number 9, and take the bus that has a sign “Cape D’Aguilar”, the bus ride takes about 20 minutes. Once you get off, follow Cape D’Aguilar Road to get to the Crab Cove. You will see a lighthouse, Skeleton of a whale and thunder cave along the way. The walk will take about one hour one way. Make sure you bring some food and drinks. Beware of green snakes. After you arrive, the scenery is very beautiful, you can hear the ocean waves hitting the cave. Don’t get too close, the waves can be big sometimes and get you wet. You return back to the bus station where you started.
2. The Peak
I took the tram to the peak. Once you arrive at the peak tower, there is a road called “Lugard road” on the side of the building, follow that road to see the beautiful city view. You will pass through a kids playground and some benches for you to rest. You can bring some snacks to picnic. Once you finish the whole loop, you will end up where you started, no need to walk back. This route will take you an hour. After you finish, you can get some ice cream at the peak tower. Make sure you pick a nice clear day. I went on a foggy day and I didn’t see much of a view.
3. Pineapple Dam
Pineapple Dam is located at Shing Mun Reservoir in Tsuen Wan. You can take the MTR red line to Tsuen Wan station, exit B1. Then, you will need to take minibus 82, get off at the last stop, there are long stairs on the left, you walk up and follow the sign. You will pass through Butterfly Paradise and Paperbark Valley. There are lots of pavilions along the route, so you can sit down and rest. I like this route because you can see many monkeys. You have to be careful with your bags, monkeys are smart, they want to look for food in your bags. I suggest not to hold any bags in your hand.
