Class Exercise: Personification

In our third lesson of our Poetry Unit, our students learned about personification; the figurative device where you give human qualities to non-human objects.

As an exercise, they were asked to personify this moving image of a river and here are some of the highlights.

The bubbles in the water pushed each other out of the way.

The bubbles and water were playing hide-and-seek.

The water ran down the river, trying to get away from the hissing trees.

The bubbles are jumping around the water having fun.

The water was burping bubbles.

The bubbles are running away to hide from the salmon coming.
