Extending a Metaphor into a Poem
In our second lesson of our Poetry Unit, our students learned how to write a metaphor and a similie.
As an exercise, they were asked to extend their figurative comparisons and write their very first poem.

Sometime they are fighting and sometimes they share,
But mother nature can tell that they are a great pair.
Friendship by Boaz Yim 5(C)
Friendship is like a burning fire,
A fire that never will be put out.
Friendship is like a raindrop,
That can drop through a pebble.
Friendship by Myra Leung 4(G)
Friendship is like seasons.
Sometimes you feel warm,
Sometimes you feel cold.
No matter what it is,
it’s always around us.
