Seek Angels

By Hayley Chan

Ella, the perfect girl, visited her grandpa’s house during the holiday. She had everything. Ella wore her blue dress and went to the woods to pick some strawberries. She loved it here with grandpa because no one here had ever seen a girl like her before. She drew all the attention. She was enjoying everything then suddenly she stopped walking. A secret path was in front of her. It was covered with footprints.

Following the footprints, Ella went to a marketplace. It was full of people. But something was strange. Everyone here wore a mask. Ella was really frightened. She ran and ran until she fainted.

When she opened her eyes, she found herself lying next to a little boy, wearing the same mask.

“Who are you?” Ella asked. The boy didn’t answer.

“Can you speak?” Ella asked again.

Then the boy nodded.

“I command you to speak with me,” Ella said, “this is your highest honor.”

The boy didn’t speak. Ella was furious. No one had ever refused her orders before. Ella started to realize what was happening. The people in masks are angels. They are humans who died. God collected their souls and made them into angels and sent them on missions. They could never take off their mask until they completed their missions. The boy didn’t want to tell Ella what his mission was. The boy’s name is Haden. He took Ella for a walk into the world of angels.

Suddenly, Ella saw a mall. This is the biggest mall in the world of angels.

“Can we go in there?” She asked.

She was testing Haden. No one had ever said ‘no’ to her before. Haden didn’t know what Ella was thinking.

“No,” he said, “we can’t.”

Ella was scared. She thought – This is impossible! He is not even a demon!

But she didn’t give up. She yelled, “Please, please!”

30 minutes later, Haden agreed.

Haden and Ella walked all over the mall. Then, Ella saw a game center.

“Can we go in there?” She asked.

Haden was afraid that Ella would yell again so he agreed. First, they played bowling. Ella took a bowling ball and threw it.

Ella thought to herself again – If you lose, that means you are one of my slaves. No one will ever let me lose in front of everyone.

But Haden didn’t realize. Few minutes later, Ella lost. But she still wanted to challenge Haden. Ella suggested playing video games. She picked up the remote control and tested Haden again. but she lost again. Then, Ella tried dancing, baseball and badminton. She lost the whole day and did not get anything she wanted.

Suddenly, Ella saw the footprints again. She needed to leave. She walked along the road. She turned around and thanked Haden. A few steps later, she turned again and a handsome face appeared. It was Haden. His mission was completed. Then, Ella walked out of the forest, feeling comfortable.
