The Magical Book

By Charissa Lum

Once, there was a bad girl who was ten years old named Amy. She felt that no one loved her, she had no friends so she wanted to make everybody sad. She always had a dream where she played in the Fairy Tale World. She wanted her dream to come true. But she was always rude to others and told lies which made a lot of people dislike her.

She lived with her grandmother and assisted her in their family farm. Once, she put muddy water in the shampoo bottle that her grandmother asked to refill.

“Grandma,” she said, “I’ve refilled the shampoo bottle.”

“Thank you, my child.” Her grandmother responded.

One day, she was reading a book she had already read before called, Belle and The Beast. Her eyes became droopy and as she fell asleep, the book dropped on the floor from her hand. Suddenly, a sparkly smoke started to rise from the book. Amy woke up and wondered what was happening. The sparkly smoke slowly engulfed her body and pulled her inside the book. Amy vanished from the human world to the story.

“Is this Belle’s bedroom?” She wondered. Everything was enormous and she saw a large hole in the wall. She crawled inside the hole but she could not see anything because it was too dark. The hole slanted downwards and she slid down with it for a long, long time. Oh, it stopped. She dropped and landed on a bed of grass!

When she stood up, she saw a big beautiful garden which she always dreamed in her lovely dream. She was surprised that everything had changed. She saw a lot of colourful butterflies and grass, purple trees and the sun was blue! This was her first time to see such amazing things. She played there the whole afternoon but she did not feel tired. She played happily and slept near the tree. When she woke up, it was the morning of the next day. She saw a teapot and a candle with fire on it. They were talking to each other.

A gentle voice said, “No need to be scared, I just want to play with you!”

Amy looked behind and saw Belle was there! She felt very excited. “Let’s have fun today,” they said together. First, they played hide and seek; it was Amy’s turn to catch everybody. They ran quickly and quietly, but suddenly the cup dropped on the floor and Belle caught it before it could break. The cup thanked Belle. Then Belle looked at Amy and said, "You need to help other people whenever you can.”

Belle told Amy, it's time to go back home. They ran back to Belle’s house and Amy sat on a chair. Bang! Amy was back in her house. She had made a new friend and she no longer felt the need to trouble others. She ran to the bathroom, threw the muddy water from the shampoo bottle and filled it with shampoo. Then she went back to bed.
