Debate 22-23

The Debate Team has been adapting to the new UNESCO United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Debating Competition since the beginning of the school year.

Our students have been learning how to tackle the big questions related to sustainability like “All biodegradable plastic bags should be banned in Hong Kong”, “Students should only be allowed to eat healthy snacks at school”, “We should ban the use of fossil fuels in Hong Kong”, and “We should get paid for recycling in Hong Kong”.

In the process, our students learnt how to debate using hard evidence and statistics to develop their arguments and rebuttals. They have learned how to use probability statements to persuade the opposing team to agree with them.
