Hong Kong Young Writer's Awards Ceremony 23-24
Congratulations to Kalie Fok and Matthew Yam for being shortlisted for the Bauhinia Award for Fiction Group 2.
Following HKYWA’s theme of “New Tales of China’s Inventions”, Kalie Fok’s story, Chopsticks, and Matthew Yam’s story, The Dream of Paper, both feature their respective protagonists time-travelling to the past and influencing the course of history, creating the invention as a result.
Although neither of them won the Bauhinia Award, being shortlisted was an impressive feat no less. The Fiction 2 group had 5nominees, which were chosen out of 1400 story submissions this year.
Furthermore, they were the first students from Pui Ching Primary School to be shortlisted.
Kalie, Matthew and Mr. Ng attended the awards ceremony together on a breezy Friday afternoon at Cyberport. They arrived early, took pictures on the stage, applauded the other nominees (some nominees fly in from China and Southeast Asia) and even grabbed a quick celebratory snack at the buffet afterwards before returning to Pui Ching Primary School.
