Sports Day 2022

On the 21st of September, I had my sports day. It was held in Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground. Everyone was very excited. There were lots of dragonflies there because it rained before. A lot of them were mating so they always had to hang on to something. When we were interviewing people, a lot of dragonflies flew around us. One even flew on a guy we were interviewing! He just stood still until the dragonflies flew away.

We had our opening ceremony by our principal, Mr. Yip Chin Hon Donald, a few teachers and some primary six pupils. We sang our school's song, the Chinese National Anthem and a sports song. The sports song was underwhelming though.

The first competition was a 400 meter run. I even competed in it! It was very tiring. All of my classmates cheered for me so I had a lot of motivation. I used all of my strength to run. I think I got sixth place.

The second competition was shot put and the third competition was 60 meter run. I didn't care much about the competition after that because I wasn't in it. I only cared when it was the 200 meter run because I was in it. I couldn't use any strength because I was tired from the 400 meter run.

The last competition was the 4x100 relay. I wasn't in it because I was slow at running. My class was very fast so they got first place. Everyone cheered for them. We were not that happy because we went home one hour later.

Although we went home an hour later, the sports day was exciting and fun. I hope there will be one next year.

Pui Ching’s yearly sports day was held on the 21st of September at Tseung Kwan O sports ground. The start of this great event was announced by  Mr.  Hu Ho Ting, and a primary 6 emcee. Then, the principal Mr. Yip Chin Hon Donald had a few words. The opening ceremony also included singing our school song, the Chinese National Anthem and the sports song twice.

It was a sunny day, and a lot of dragonflies flew around the sports ground. During the matches, many students cheered for their classmates with banners and pom-poms. For every match, the champion, the first runner-up, and the second runner-up would soon be announced on the radio. The winners would then go to the podium and be awarded a medal by an honored guest and two scouts.

The most popular sports event was the long throw and many students queued for more than an hour. A lot of students regretted signing up for it because of the long, hot and boring wait.

The 4x100 relay was the last event and the primary 6 Cheerleading Performance was supposed to be next, but because the previous events used much more time than expected, the performance was delayed along with the announcement for the results of the 4x100 relay. It was very disappointing news for the students. After the closing ceremony, it was time for departure, and the sports day had finally ended.

On the 21st of September, we had a sports day in Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground. We felt very hot, dripping with much sweat on that sunny day; still we were very happy and excited. We started the sports day by singing school songs. The first race was the boy’s 4x100m running race. I enjoyed this race the most because every runner tried their best and ran very fast. What a nerve-racking race!

After that, I interviewed the second runner-up winner Alen. Alen thought that athletes need to have a strong and healthy body and not be afraid of losing the race. I also interviewed a runner in the girl’s 100 meters race, Ali. She was happy and satisfied with her performance in the race because she got first place at last! She went practicing running with her dad before the race.

I just joined one race so I spent most of the time in the audience, other than having interviews with my schoolmates for the Gazette report. At last, the inter-class relay started! My classmates and I all screamed and cheered. It was a pity that our class did not win.

Because of the schedule delay, the cheer leading performance was cancelled. I was a bit annoyed because we left the sports ground one hour late. I was still happy and grateful that my school could organize the sports day, which was a very meaningful learning experience after all.

The 21st of September was an extremely exciting day this year. It was the SPORTS DAY! Everyone gathered at Tseung Kwan O sports ground. They were all thrilled.

The first event, the 400 meters race, started at 8:45.The audience yelled deafening cheers to their classmates. Then, all of a sudden, there was a loud “BURP!’’ from the megaphones. It was very funny.

Soon, the race started! The attendees ran as fast as they could. They ran like cheetahs. “Wow! GO!GO!GO!”.Then, Yuen Hoi Yuet was the champion!

Yeah! Then a second runner crossed the finish line, then a third. After that, the winners received their trophies on the podium. They held their prizes up high. Everyone was proud of them.

We interviewed the champion and we got some quite interesting answers. Yeun said “I am so thankful to finish the race since I had been practicing for a month and had training three times a week.” We also interviewed the first runner up, Priscilla Cheung, “I think that it was a tiring race, but I still feel happy with my performance.”

After all,we think sports day is a very educational event and we can learn how to stand the stress. Also,it is important to have fun and enjoy the shows and activities AND TO RELAX!
