My Best Birthday
by Athena Cheung (4A)
Last Sunday was my ninth birthday, in fact the best birthday ever. I woke up beaming with excitement as I knew it was my big day. I first brushed my teeth while thinking about what my thoughtful parents have planned for my birthday.
The moment I stepped into my living room, I saw 5 of my best friends: Milly, Sally, Chole, Lily and her little brother Max. “Happy birthday Athena!” exclaimed my 4 friends. I felt over the moon, as I knew that they would celebrate my birthday. After that, we had a delicious breakfast together. While we were having the tastiest breakfast of our lives, my friends told me that we were going to have a party later that they had been planning for months. They also told me to eat more as we will be skipping lunch. After having our big breakfast, our party had officially started.
First we played an extremely fun and popular game called Monopoly which really entertained me and my friends. After playing delightfully for hours it was finally time to count our money. I felt ecstatic as I won. On the the other hand Max burst out in tears because he lost. We consoled him and told him that it was just a game. Then my mum told us to go to our garden as there was a surprise for us, and guess what we saw— two gigantic bounce houses. We all ran in the bounce houses and played happily. We did many kinds of tricks such as backflips and front flips. Suddenly, my mum came out and cried "Kids it is time to have dinner.”
We had no choice but to get out of the bounce house and have dinner. The moment we sat down we smelled the aroma of my favorite kind of food— chicken wings. A few minutes later my mum brought out a bowl of noodles, fried rice, mashed potatoes, a mozzarella pizza and last, but not least chicken wings coated with honey. We ate like starving horses. After we devoured all of the mouth watering dishes, we felt extremely stuffed.
Suddenly, my living room turned pitch black, then everyone started to sing happy birthday. After that my mum brought out a strawberry cake which smelled like heaven. After blowing out candles all 4 of my friends handed 4 enormous presents to me and once again I felt blessed and cheerful. Finally, I thought, "This is the best birthday ever!”
