The Teachers of Pui Ching: Mr. Michael

by The Gazette Reporters 2021-2022

Mr. Michael is the funniest Native English Teacher (NET) in Pui Ching Primary School. He was born on the 11th of June in 1992, has taught in Pui Ching for four years, and is the NET who has been here the longest so far!

Mr. Michael is really hardworking — he has taught in over 30 schools, and over a thousand classes in just a few years.

He adores making children laugh – in fact, Mr. Michael has said that he would be willing to dance with 100 chickens in order to make his students laugh. This is one of the reasons why Mr. Michael is so successful, and why so many of his students love him so much.

Mr. Michael enjoys when his students improve: especially when they start out unable to speak English, but they end up able to just a year later. It’s what motivates him to keep teaching. He loves students that try, but hates when students are lazy.

His favourite country is Japan, his favourite movie is Lord of the Rings, and his favourite book is Gone Girl.

Mr. Michael does not have a favourite type of music: he likes every single type of music! He actually studied music at university, and if he wasn’t a teacher, he would probably be writing music for TV.

Before coming to Hong Kong, Mr. Michael was originally supposed to move to Chongqing, China. He did not tell his family he was moving to Hong Kong until the day before he left!

Mr. Michael recently got married, and will move to Canada after he finishes teaching at Pui Ching this year, where he hopes to continue teaching.

We bid Mr. Michael bon voyage, and hope he will always remember us, his students at Pui Ching.
