Game Review: Mario Tennis Aces

by Karson Lam (4B)

This video game is called “Mario Tennis Aces”. This game is about Mario and other characters playing tennis together.

In adventure mode, Wario and Waluigi have a very powerful racket which is super dangerous. Luigi was possessed by the racket. Mario and Toad quickly thought of a solution for the problem: get five power stones. Mario had to win against strong bosses to obtain them. After beating the last boss statue, Bowser, Mario saw the best power stone and was about to grab it . However, Wario and Waluigi got it first. Mario and Toad were furious .They told Princess Peach and Princess Daisy what happened. After a while, a tournament was organised. Peach and Daisy were against Wario and Waluigi who had the cursed racket and Mario was against Luigi with the racket. After the competition, Bowser took the racket. Mario had to win against Bowser. After he missed three times with a “ZoneShot”, the racket flew out of Bowser’s hands. The place was destroyed. Thankfully, some magic got Mario out of there.

There are two different sections in tournament mode. The top one is Online Tournament. There are a lot of characters to choose from. Some characters need to be unlocked like Dry Boswer. It will unlock on any game modes except adventure mode. After choosing, it will help you to search for an opponent. At first, everyone starts with two thousand points. Whenever you win, you will gain some points. However, if you lose, you will lose some points. After winning four rounds, you will get a champion’s trophy, which wins the game. In the Com Tournament, it is almost the same. However, you are up against a computer.

This game has over 3.06 million copies that were sold out. It was released on the 22nd of June in 2018 . Each one is around seventy five dollars in Hong Kong. Peru spends the least amount of money and Argentina spends the most. More and more people are buying this. What was your favourite part of the game? Mine was definitely the Online Tournament. It is so fun to play with others.
