Personification Exercise

In the sixth lesson of our Poetry Unit, our Creative Writing students learned about using personification as a figurative device, giving human qualities to non-human objects.

As an exercise, they were asked to personify the electricity dancing around Nikola Tesla in the image below. Here are some of the highlights:

Nikola Tesla was having an electric shower.

The electricity wrapped Nikola Tesla with its arms.

The electricity was kissing Nikola Tesla.

The electricity was angry, hitting the man with its sparkling hands.

The electricity opened a doorway for Nikola Tesla.

The orb of electricity was crying all over Nikola Tesla.
