The Bloody Price of World War I

by Alvis Shek (4H)

World War I is also known as the First World War, it lasted from 1914 to 1918. It involved two opponent alliances - the Allies and the Central Power. They were nearly the biggest powers in the world, such as the British Empire and Germany. WWI was triggered by the assassination of the king of Austria and his wife. What’s more? The differences and conflicts over foreign policy in different countries were also the causes of the war.

In 1919, the Treaty of Versailles ended WWI, and it changed the world, for example, plastic surgery was invented. Blood banks were developed during WWI. The first aircraft carriers and the first gas masks were used in WWI.

I felt so sad when I read about WWI. Many people died and got hurt. People lost their families and friends in the war. I hope we can live in peace and harmony.
