5 Google Classroom Tips

During this COVID-19 pandemic, many schools and teachers have had to teach online. Among them, 68% of schools are using the free web-based learning platform called “Google Classroom”. However, do you know how to use this popular platform in a painless way? Today, I am going to show you 5 interesting tips that few people know about Google Classroom.

 

Tips for Teachers!

 

Schedule Posts or Assignments

Many teachers will post their assignments in an appropriate time, but sometimes they forget or post them late. Therefore, scheduling posts and assignments is a good way to solve this problem.

  • Enter Google Classroom, Select the class you want.

  • Click on Classwork, then press create, click on assignment.

  • After typing the title and all the introductions, press the arrow next to the assign button.

  • Click on “Schedule” and select your time.

 

Pin Comments/Announcements

If you want to highlight some students comments or even, you want your students to check your posts easily. You can pin the comments, so that students can check it out and reply you faster after seeing it!

  • Enter Google Classroom, select a class, then click into stream.

  • Press the three dots next to the comment you want to pin.

  • Click to move to top.

 

Create Multiple Topics

Some courses have different topics to study for students (such as GE and IE in one course), so you will create assignments that are in different topics. In this situation, many different assignments might make students feel puzzled. Then, how can we separate tasks into different topics?

  • Enter Google Classroom, pick a class, Click on Classwork.

  • Press Create, Choose Topic.

  • Write your Topic’s name.

  • Add assignments into the suitable topics.

 

Tips for Students!

 

Check Due Dates

Students need to check and finish assignments that teachers assigned to us, but if there are countless assignments in all courses, how can we check each assignment and know when to hand it in? Here is a convenient way to check it.

  • Enter Google Classroom, Click the three lines on the right side.

  • Choose Calendar.

  • You can check every week and see all the assignments that you need to hand in.

 

Customise Notifications

Sometimes you will receive tons of non-essential notifications about your classes in your email and they might make you feel annoyed, so is there a way to turn off receiving all these notifications and avoid them?

  • Enter Google Classroom, Click the three lines.

  • Select Settings, Choose Notifications.

  • You can turn on/off notifications and adjust them according to your preferences.
