A Trip to Iceland
Last week my family and I went to the world's most relaxing place, Iceland, because it was my birthday. I woke up overjoyed and excited. I brushed my teeth and had a delicious breakfast with my family. After having the best breakfast of my life, we caught an Uber to the airport .
When we arrived at the airport, a storm hit. Therefore our flight was delayed for 56 hours. 56! I was losing my mind. After waiting impatiently, the 56 hours were finally up and we boarded the plane.
After 10 hours flying, we arrived. We first got off the plane, then we went and got on a bus. The bus was crowded with people, so we felt a little uncomfortable. When we reached the hotel, we met a nice woman at the front desk called “Cockaroochie” who gave me a candy. Then she gave us the key to our room. I felt very at ease in our room with a king size bed, a spacious bathroom, a lovely balcony and even a place to cook our own food.
The next day, we went to the highest mountain in Iceland, Kirkju. When we arrived I saw an extremely beautiful view, which made me feel that I was dreaming. We ate some delicious snacks while enjoying the natural splendor of Kirkju. Before we knew it, it was already 5 o’clock. We had to eat dinner. Although I was tired, I did not regret climbing to the peak of the mountain where the view got even better.
On my last day in Iceland, we wanted to do something special: skiing. Because it was my first time going skiing, my overprotective mum forced me to wear 20 knee pads, 50 elbow pads and 60 helmets, which made me look silly. After that I held on to my dad tightly and slowly navigated down the mountain. I felt extremely tired as I woke up at 6 that morning, plus I was a total newbie at skiing. Naturally, I fell a lot. Fortunately my mum forced me to wear kneepads so my knees did not hurt too much.
After learning for 5 hours, I finally skied on my own, which made my parents proud. That evening, my family and I went to a western restaurant nearby to have dinner. When we entered the restaurant we smelled the aroma of candles and saw many colorful paintings hanging on the wall. First we ordered a bowl of mushroom soup and some breadsticks as an appetizer. Then we ordered a huge pepperoni pizza as our main dish. Finally we ate some rich chocolate ice cream cake for dessert — with birthday candles in it for me, of course! I was stuffed but satisfied. This was such a happy moment in my life.
I had a fantastic time in Iceland and I would highly recommend you to visit this amazing place.
