Poem: Oldest Instrument
by Audrey Wu Kay Yu 4E
This poem was written for the Budding Poets Competition 2023-2024. The theme was “heritage”. Students wrote poems about festivals, traditions, customs, cuisines and myths. Some students even wrote about western heritage as a way to challenge themselves.
Oldest instrument
The oldest instrument,
Oh what could it be?
A shiny flute, of course!
Yes, a flute, a flute
It's shiny, it's silver.
It smoother than fur
With small key-like buttons
Was first made of wood
A woodwind instrument
In an orchestra
On an enormous stage
Drums bang, cymbals clang
Lead me to Beethoven
Along with the rhythm,
feelings coming along.
Off to my lesson now!
