The Temple of the Fire Spirit

On a moonlit night, the silent bamboo forest in a little floating island in the Legendary Kingdom was trembling nervously. Voices were echoing through the temple on the little floating island: the Temple of the Fire Spirit.

“You ready ?” asked a voice. It was the Master of the Ruby Sword. He was training with his student, Evan, because he needed to pass a test duel to become a master of duel.

“No problemo, teacher !” Evan replied.

“Then let the duel begin !” said the Master of the Ruby Sword.

They took their places in the huge garden of the temple. Japanese bonsai trees and rocks covered most of the garden, causing difficulty to move quickly. Also, the sides of the garden weren't brimmed with fences, so one wrong step and you’re dead meat. The Master of the Ruby Sword took out his weapon, the ultimate Sword of Light. Evan took out his weapon, the Sword of Invincibility, a sword that holds an incredible amount of power.

The duel started. Evan sprinted forward like a charging bull, holding the sword in front of him. However, the Master of the Ruby Sword was quick. He moved swiftly out of the way, causing Evan to crash into a bonsai tree. The Master focused on him, preparing to use a powerful move. His sword began to radiate bright beams of light, so bright that the Master couldn’t even see his opponent. The light died down, and to his amazement, the Master still saw Evan! He wasn’t hurt!

“But how……”The Master stammered. Evan grinned. He had blocked the attack.

The Master was worn out from the attack. Evan took this as an advantage and he began to focus on his own power. With a flourish, he connected his sword with his hand, gaining power as his strength merged with his sword. He pointed his sword to his Master, who was struggling to get away. But at the last second, the Master used a spin attack and washed away the power of Evan’s sword!

“That’s impossible! That’s supposed to be an attack, not a defence!” Evan cried. A smile crept up the Master’s face.

“That’s when you need to know how to think outside the box.” The Master said smugly.

The two fought evenly, none had any advantage, until Evan finally decided to win this duel once and for all.

“I must use the secret move. Here goes nothing!” He thought. He first attempted to lure the Master to the edge of the garden. Then he quickly sprints to the opposite side of the garden and once again focuses on his Master. Beams of light shone from his sword, then spreading out into rainbows.

“Aaargh !” shrieked the Master. The beams strikes him, sending him sprawling to the ground.

“You win!” said the Master. Evan pumped his fist and shouted, “Hooray!” Then, they both bowed to each other.

Later, when they returned to The Temple of the Fire Spirit, the Master pinned a badge on Evan’s clothes.

“This means that you have passed the test duel and have defeated me.” said the Master. Evan was bursting with joy.

“I am truly honoured,” said Evan proudly. “I will treasure the experience with me forever.”
