“Ring! Ring!”
“Who is calling this early? It’s only 7:05…”
Heidi looked at her alarm clock and got up from her comfy bed. She had a stretch with a yawn. she picked up her phone and heard Wonka say, “Morning, Heidi! It’s my birthday today and I want to invite you to my party! Joy, William, Lucus and Lucy are coming too. I celebrate my birthday at my grandma's home. Hope you can come, please.”
“Sure!” Heidi said.
“Great! You can come over at 1:00! I will message you the address! Wear a sports outfit. Bye.” Wonka ended the call quickly.
Heidi received Wonka’s message and googled the address.
She felt weird and mumbled, “ What!? That was the one I saw from Youtube last night about the big white house from Mary Neighborhood.’’ Heidi wanted to refresh the memory of the house but her brain froze. She decided to google later again when she woke up.
When Heidi woke up again, it was noon. She quickly went to her changing room and chose the clothes. Heidi was holding a white with grey dots sports outfit on her left hand, and holding a pastel long sleeved sports outfit on another. She was wondering which clothes she should wear.
“Ugh! This one or that one? The white with grey dots sport outfit looks nice. But the pastel long sleeved sports outfit looks so comfy and it’s my style!”
Heidi shouted. “Oh wait! It’s 12:30 already! Okay! Okay! I’m gonna choose the pastel one.” Heidi quickly changed her clothes. Her tummy was rumbling, she touched her tummy and hoped to arrive at the party as soon as possible.
Heidi waved to the taxi, the driver stopped and opened the door. Heidi smelled the strong lily fragrant she hated the most. She jumped into the taxi and said, “213 Kirk Ave, Mary Neighbourhood please,”
Heidi felt her stomach running, so she opened the window to make her sickness go away. The diver nodded and made an U turn. He drove in the wrong direction. Heidi turned on the map app when she got into the taxi.
“Hey! Why are you driving in the wrong direction?” Heidi shouted, she kept looking at the watch.
The taxi driver said something strange, “Ha, little girl, please believe me. I was driving my little son Danny to Wonka’s birthday party the same day last year, and he disappeared…’’ Heidi’s heart was pounding because she worried the driver was making an excuse to drive her to somewhere else.
Heidi pretended to be patient but she didn’t know what she should do.
‘ ‘Be careful, girl. The police thought my son was killed, and everyone who went to the party vanished. At first, we thought it was only a prank so we went to Wonka’s grandma’s home to check, and we found some blood in the house.
Here, look at this photo,” said the Taxi driver. He stopped because the traffic light turned red. He took out a photo and continued, “This is my son, Danny.” The driver showed Heidi a young little boy’s picture. His tears were rolling and spoke stumbling. Heidi wasn’t sure that the picture had been edited.
Heidi rolled her eyes and said, “Nice joke, man. I met Wonka when we were in K3.” The driver interrupted what Heidi said and shouted, “Because your teacher asked you to do a project with him? My son met Wonka because of that! They became good friends,’’ the driver spoke loudly and repeatedly banged the horn.
Heidi covered her ears and said loudly, “I don’t care. BRING ME TO MARY NEIGHBOURHOOD, NOW!” Heidi's face was so red. She knew Wonka when they were little. They used to be best friends. She couldn’t trust a stranger. “As you wish.” mumbled the taxi driver.
“We are here. 100 dollars, please.” said the taxi driver when he hardly pressed the meter. Heidi opened her wallet and took 100 dollar cash out. Heidi put the 100 dollar cash into the bowl and quickly came out from the taxi. When she closed the door, she heard the driver say good luck. She felt released because she could finally leave the taxi.
“Ding! Ding!” Heidi had a deep breath and cleared her mind. She smiled and pressed the bell.
Wonka opened the door, hugged Heidi and said excitedly, “Hello, Heidi!”
Joy, William, Lucus and Lucy said, “ Hello! We’ve been waiting for so long so we can start the party!”
“Hi! I saw a crazy man who talked crazy. I felt almost kidnapped by someone,” Heidi said.
“Hello, Young lady! I baked some cookies. Do you want some?” said an old woman with a pale face.
“Don’t talk, you old woman! We are listening to Heidi's talk,’’ said Wonka.
“This woman is my grandma. She’s so annoying. Just ignore her.” Wonka’s grandma’s name is Isabella. Wonka asked us not to talk to her. His grandma used to punish him no matter what he did . Heidi took her shoes off and sat on a modern chair beside Joy.
“Here you go, kids. Please enjoy these cookies! I made them by myself this morning,” said Isabella. They all tasted the cookies. Heidi loved the cookies and was about to say the word ‘yummy’... Joy said angrily, “Wonka! Didn’t you know that I’m allergic to peanuts?”
Wonka stared at his grandma and said, “I told you that Joy is allergic to peanuts, right?” Isabella sighed and said, “ Sorry, kids. I’m going to buy some snacks for you guys. I forgot Joy had a peanut allergy.”
Isabella took off her apron and grabbed her car key, while Isabella drove her car to the supermarket.
Joy scratched her face and yelled, “Quick! What are you guys doing? My medicine is in my backpack. Please help me find it! I cannot breathe! Quick!” Her face turned red and her lips turned red to purple. She fell down from her chair in a big thump.
“We need to find the backpack!” Lucy shouted.
“Quick…Please! I can hardly breathe!” Joy laid down on the floor and mumbled. All the people in the house were freaking out. Heidi was holding a magnifying glass from the dining table and was looking around the floor. She suddenly saw a pink backpack with unicorn patterns under the sofa. Besides the backpack she saw a note.
She quickly asked, “Joy! Is your backpack pink with unicorn patterns? I think I found it.”
Joy was tired and said, “Yes, it is! Can you please grab it for me?”
“Sure! Wait,” said Heidi. She took the backpack out and gave it to Joy. Heidi was curious about the note. She took the note secretly and it wrote:
“Denny! Today is my birthday and I hope you can be my best friend forever”
Wonka
“Denny?!” Heidi was surprised. “Isn’t he the Taxi driver’s son?”
Heidi felt her heartbeat, her hands were shaking. She told herself not to get frightened.
‘‘What’s going on?’’ There was some sound coming from the bathroom. Heidi went into the bathroom, she saw Lucy and Lucus on top of the toilet shouting,
“Help us, Heidi! I don't know where these mini creatures came from! Help me get rid of them!” Heidi was scared. There was a 10-inch tall man looking at her. The man had dark hair and a black skin.
“Hi! I’m the Biggest Oompa Loompa,” said the Oompa Loompa. Lucy and Lucus were so scared. They jumped down from the toilet bowl and quickly ran out of the bathroom.
Heidi first thought of Oompa Loompa from the Charlie’s Chocolate Factory, “I’m not in the movie but my friend Wonka has the same name as the man Wonka in the movie. That’s suspicious!’’ Heidi felt the truth was close.
Suddenly, Wonka went to the bathroom and saw Heidi holding the note. He was so shocked. He quickly shouted, “It’s not what you think! Denny is still alive, still alive! Please don’t tell anyone. I faked their death! Oh, wait! Why do I need to say all that?”
He gathered everyone in the dining room and prepared drinks for everyone. He secretly put some pills in every drink and gave it to all of them. They didn’t want to drink but Wonka said if they refused, he would kill them. All of them drank a sip. They quickly could feel their bodies were different. They looked at each other and saw themselves becoming shorter and shorter. They were so shocked. They ran to the mirror and saw themselves becoming the Oompa Loompas. Wonka hoped his friends lived happily ever after, so he used a trick to make his friends become Oompa Loompas.
