Camaraderie

This is a scene-writing assignment in class. Students were instructed to write one short scene about a group of friends being stranded in the desert. The students needed to quickly show their main character and their problem in one scene.
“Why did the world do this to us?” yelled Jackson.
“Relax, we will find a way.” claimed Jacob.
“But how, we are in a deserted desert with no supplies and food?” said Jay. The silent desert suddenly became a cacophonous market.
“Stop!” yelled Jason, “we will die if you guys don’t stop quarreling.”
All of a sudden, Jack’s eyes started to sob with tears “I don’t want to die!” he cried.
“Calm down,” said Jason, “we will have to survive on our own this time.” The others agreed so they took out their equipment. Jacky had some matches. Joseph had a fishing rod. Jacob had a rifle. They had a tent in the car.
They built the tent and lit the matches. Joseph and Jacob went out to hunt. Jess and the others tried to get WIFI so they could call the cops.
The night fell and the day broke, Joseph and Jacob caught a snake. They cooked it and ate it. It wasn’t so tasty but they were graceful about it.
Suddenly, they heard a slithering sound. They were scared. All of a sudden, some snakes came out of the grass. Jacob pulled out his rifle and Joseph got out his fishing rod. They hurt them at lightning speed. The snake quickly ‘ran’ away from their turf.
They cheered as they went to sleep…
